Year 9 Options
The Options process for selecting courses to study in Year 10 and 11 runs from October each year. The process is devised around the following principles:
- All subjects offered to students are valuable, available to all students and all lead to a level 2 qualification. This might be a GCSE or a technical qualification equivalent.
- The range of qualifications offered is as broad as possible, whilst maintaining financial responsibility (qualifications with a very small uptake will not run).
- Students should be able to study their preferred subjects as far as is possible.
- Choices are made with guidance in the pathways each qualification leads to, the content of the course and style of delivery, so all students are provided with general and personalised advice.
- Students who require additional personalised support to ensure their options are suitable and aspirational are offered this support through their tutor, year lead or SEND staff.
