Post 16 Study Programme
16-19 Study Programme
At Glossopdale School our 16-19 study programme is designed to prepare students effectively for their future pathways. Our students follow a combination of Level 3 qualifications along with a programme of other activities, developing not only their academic knowledge and skills but also providing a wide range of experiences to develop their personal and leadership skills. Students who do not achieve at least a Level 4 in their English or Maths GCSE are also required to attend lessons in order to achieve these qualifications before they leave at the end of Year 13. The vast majority of our students are full time, completing on average over 600 planned hours.
All students complete a comprehensive programme of career preparation and an extensive personal development tutorial programme. All students are expected to complete a work placement linked to their future pathway plans at the end of Year 12 and many students will also complete ongoing weekly volunteering or additional weekly work placements.
Sixth Form study programmes are flexible and built around the needs of individual students. Many students follow a combination of academic A Levels and vocational Level 3 Applied General Qualification. We feel it is vital that we provide breadth and depth to student experiences, without limiting their options for future study or work. We provide students with structured and challenging learning opportunities and through doing so aim to support their development and progression in line with their career plans.
Students are expected to meet our entry criteria, undergoing a supportive process of admission consultations in order to ensure they are placed on a programme to which they are well suited. Students with SEND needs are similarly supported through the admissions process and throughout their study in the Sixth Form.
Students who complete their courses at Glossopdale go on to do very well. Most of our students decide to take up university places or embark upon a higher apprenticeship after completing their courses with us.
