Mental Health Support
Looking after your mental health is just as important as caring for your physical health. Everyone experiences challenges at times, and it’s important to know that support is available.
We are proud to have been recognised as Mental Health Champions by OneGoal (onegoal.co.uk) for our commitment to supporting wellbeing and creating a positive, supportive school environment.
Since 2010 OneGoal has helped over 125,000 children and Young People across the UK to be more Healthy, Happy and Inspired!
Our Mental Health Link in school is Ms Preston.
If you would like to be a Mental Health Champion the club is held after school on Wednesday's in Week A. Please keep an eye out in the student bulletin for more information.

Compass - Changing Lives Services
We work with Compass Changing Lives, who are based in school, to support students with their mental health.
Compass offers free and confidential support for things like anxiety, low mood, managing emotions, and friendship difficulties.
Support may be provided through one-to-one or small group sessions to help you build skills and feel more in control.
If you feel this could help you, speak to your Year Team or Year Manager.

Getting Help in School
If you need support, you are not alone. You can speak to:
- Your Year Manager
- A teacher or member of staff you trust
- The pastoral team
They are there to listen, support you, and help you find the right next steps.
Remember
Asking for help is a sign of strength. If something is worrying you, don’t keep it to yourself—support is always available.
Taking Care of Your Mental Health
There are simple things you can do to support your wellbeing:
- Talk to someone you trust about how you’re feeling
- Take breaks and make time for activities you enjoy
- Stay active and try to keep a healthy routine
- Practise mindfulness or relaxation techniques
- Reach out for help early if things feel difficult
Wellbeing Support

Wellbeing is often described as “feeling comfortable, healthy or happy.” But it’s more than just feeling happy all the time. It also includes:
- Feeling satisfied with your life
- Having a sense of purpose
- Feeling in control of what’s happening around you
Everyone’s wellbeing is different, and it’s normal to have ups and downs.
If you’re worried about anything, please speak to your Year Team.
Support Outside of School
There are also trusted services outside of school that you can use:
-
7 Cups 7cups.com
An online emotional support service where you can talk to a trained listener. They won’t judge or tell you what to do – they’re there to listen and help you feel heard. -
Kooth kooth.com
A free, confidential service for young people offering online counselling and support. You can use it for anything from short-term stress to more long-term concerns.
Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a simple way of paying attention to the present moment. It helps you slow down, notice how you’re feeling, and manage difficult thoughts or emotions without judgement.
It can be useful when you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, or just need a moment to reset.
There are some fantastic videos on this channel on YouTube you can explore:
You can also access a range of short guided mindfulness sessions via SoundCloud:
Each one lasts around 5 minutes, so it’s easy to fit into your day at home or in school.
These activities are:
- Short and easy to follow
- Designed to feel safe and supportive
- Not focused on breathing, which can sometimes feel difficult for people experiencing anxiety
Tips for Using Mindfulness
- Find a quiet space if you can
- Sit comfortably and relax your body
- Follow the audio guidance without pressure
- Remember there is no “right” way to do it
- Even a few minutes can make a difference
Mindfulness is a skill – it gets easier with practice. Taking a few minutes to pause and check in with yourself can make a real difference to how you feel.
